Well no more! There a FREE online flowchart program online called Lovely Charts. I used it to diagram the convoluted system I had to develop to get internet and VOIP phone working in my home. It takes no time to pick up how the system works and it has a lot of pre-made objects (like networking icons). I only wish they had more objects to work with, but hey, it's free.

For proper modern use of flowcharting, watch the TV show Big Bang Theory.
Recently, Sheldon worked out a flowchart for making friends that had to be corrected with a counter to stop an endless loop. In another episode, They attempted to find an acceptable combination of restaurant and theater, and came to the conclusion that the only workable solution was to leave Sheldon behind.
Um, cool convoluted flowchart. I'll just crawl back under my rock now.
